Today sees the start of the campaign for Wales and a great encounter in prospect against Italy. This has normally been a happy hunting ground winning 8 of the 10 matches played here, but you can’t take the Italians lightly as those 2 loses confirm, they can bite you when you least expect it. Currently Wales are on a 10 game winning streak, lets hope we can make it 11 today.
The route today takes us north into the Quartiere Flaminio, past the old Stadio Flaminio, where the original matches took place before rugby took off in Rome, and across Ponte Duca D’Aosta and the Tiber into Foro Italico, formerly Foro Mussolini and the Stadio Olimpico, the new home of Italian Rugby.
Along the way we are stopping off at the MAXXI Modern Art Museum, it is almost a year to the passing of the architect Zaha Hadid and this is one of her finest works and a Stirling Prize winner in 2010. I have always been disappointed her winning Crystal Necklace design for the Cardiff Bay Opera House was never constructed.
Topped off with a bite to eat in the Scandinavian inspired Treebar, oh and a few beers too!!!!
